Well, I don't understand why the title of this topic is 'driving through a U-turn' as a U - turn is a single manoeuvre, where you turn your vehicle is one forward movement.
Normally a street has to be pretty wide to execute this, or else you have to be driving the likes of a London taxi which can reputedly 'turn on a sixpence'.
Most U-turns are illegal anyway as they can be considered to be a dangerous manoeuvre in view of the driver not having complete all round vision to see if other vehicles or pedestrians get in the way.

Personally, making U-turns is a maneuver that I try to avoid. In most of the States, U-turns are permitted in lanes marked "U-turns". And in some States (example: California) when the traffic has completely cleared, unless there is a sign saying no U-turns.

Actually, taxi do 'Ueys' all the time because when you drop someone off you are usually wanting to head back to where the work is as quickly as possible. Also with the sky-high price of fuel, doing Ueys saves money!

FOLLOW THESE STEPS FOR U TURN DRIVING
Step
1
Switch on the turn signal that indicates the direction of your turn.

Step
2
Check for oncoming traffic.

Step
3
Make sure that a U-turn is not illegal in this location. U-turns should not be made across a double yellow line or where signs indicate that they are against the law.

Step
4
Be sure that you have enough room to make the turn without hitting the curb or any parked cars.

Step
5
Press the gas lightly while turning the steering wheel as far as it will go in the direction you want to turn.

Step
6
Lift your foot off the gas and coast through the turn. Give gas as needed.

Step
7
Enter your new lane and begin driving.

While you come near the turn make sure you are in correct speed and never accelerate more than the required speed or else you end up crashing on the side of the road.

That would be a "Bat Turn".
