Maruti all set to launch All-New Swift DZire

[b:69fec8251a]After the success of the new Swift, Maruti Suzuki is all set to rejig the sedan segment with a brand new Swift DZire. Several innovations have made the new DZire lighter, quieter and nimble; the petrol variant delivers an enhanced fuel efficiency of 19.1 km per litre and the diesel variant promises improved fuel efficiency of 23.4 km per litre.

However, if you do swap driving sessions (and it is recommended that you do so), it is not a good idea for the other driver to be the one which is awake. If there are five of you, have a none-driver remain a

Again, I don't think that we disagree all that much. For instance, I also believe in using a two-seconds gap as a baseline. A three of four second gap should only be used when the circumstances require, but in normal conditions, a two-seconds gap is good enough. So we see eye to eye in here.

I do believe that, if the conditions require it, an increase of the following distance is important, and that in any way it will not cause any inconvenience to anyone, since any lost of time because of it

Brake Tappers

I wouldn't suggest speeding up to avoid tailgaters, since they are a greedy folk, and will quickly move in to the space you opened by increasing your speed, now leaving you only with a smaller forward gap. This solution is valid only if we are driving too slow from the beginning, which should never be the case.

I also dislike the brake testing idea, because it leads to various problems like brake wear, nervousness, "shockwaves" through the traffic that can create small, mysterious t

Distance at stoplight

I think that our disagreement is smaller than you think, Misha.:)

My recommendation to stop two or even three car lengths early is when you are stopping at the very end of the queue (with no other cars behind you) waiting for the red light or for whatever other reason. Once cars come up behind you, you move into this space, so there is no inconvenience or lost of time to it. It's just a way of leaving yourself a way out of a possible rear-end collision. I will do a write-up on this with pictu

me, 17 years old, learning the folly of cruise control

PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 12:17 pm
It is never good to use cruise control when driving on wet or snowy roads. What you described and Misha also pointed out is called Hydroplaning. The tires hit a slick spot and lose traction slowing the vehicle down below the cruise setting and then it tries to get up to speed.

I remeber drinving on a 4 lane highway with cruise control on while it was raining. Hit a very shallow puddle of water flowing acroos the highway and it felt like my car jumped 6 i
