They're not always adequately marked, and sometimes the signs may not make any difference. My most recent one-way error was on a split road with businesses between northbound and southbound. I entered a driveway on the left side of northbound. When I was done there I exited by the same driveway. I just forgot it was northbound only, but I did remember eventually when I saw three lanes of traffic coming at me. Oops

It's a four lane road, with fairly light traffic. I still had a clear lane long enough to take the next driveway off the road and through a parking lot to the southbound road. Probably a scarier situation is at night in Hamtramck, which is a tiny city with one-way one lane streets. When I saw headlights pointed at me, oh crap. I stopped going to Hamtramck mostly because it's not worth the gas to drive there, but the streets don't make it any more attractive.

Very Happy

OR you could always get Sat Nav! In which case, you never need to look for sign boards any way! You just follow where it takes you...

Not really a fan personally, but the thought of getting on the wrong side of the road does scare the hell out of me! Confused

Would just like to say ..sat navs don't always get it right.

We here lots of stories where people follow the sat nav and have been taken some where they shouldn't be

lol really? I always did hate those damn things, esp the husky voices in which they give instructions. But what can I do - hubby adores her! I mean, it! Wink

Welcome back to Fasd driver67. So, do you prefer maps over sat nav?

A bit of both i think, cant go wrong with a map but sat nav is easier ...trouble is, some people don't always use common sense ie; lorry stuck under low bridge, car drove in-to river etc

I know what you mean. I personally think Sat nav makes you too dependent on it, so that drivers often stop using their own instinct and common sense on the road!

Apart from the examples you've given, I noticed that Sat nav sometimes takes you through alternate routes that are often too winding and complicated...so that I end up with a headache instead! I often think it might have been way better for me to simply follow the signs and stick to the main roads! Confused
