Well, I drive way more than my husband does for one! Maybe, in some countries women don't drive as much as men, but here in uk, I doubt if that's true. Now if you talk of Saudi Arabia....the statement certainly holds some ground, since it's against the law for women to drive at all! Rolling Eyes

Cars are relative expensive, and as family income rises more and more women will be driving. In the US, surveys by the government and by insurance companies show that women as a group are safer drivers than men. That doesn't mean that every woman is a better driver, just that the stats show that women as a group are.

I thought as much. In a country whose Queen was an auto mechanic and an ambulance driver during World War 2, I felt pretty confident that the UK has many competent lady drivers.

Smile besides, you HAVE to be competent to survive in london traffic - too many people, lanes, rules, checks and cameras all squeezed together in one! Very Happy

90% of the lady drivers tend to have fear over speeding and overtaking a car confidently. They always decide not to overtake instead ride behind back.

I can't say if the fear of over speeding has anything to do with your gender...but rather those irritating little cameras they have up at every corner!! Trust me, that's the only thing stopping me...! Wink

But yes, I do agree with the overtaking part....not too confident there. Ok. since we're on to stereotypes, let's just blame the men....they got us so used to following them, we don't know how to lead anymore....! Yep, that's it! Very Happy

Yes, challenge the stereotypes. Don't let the gents drive over you.

Confident driver or not, lady driver should be happy she pays less for her insurance for driving more carefully. It's not across the board, of course, but women do tend to get better rates.

Female drivers have advantages in insurance policies compared to males

YLD female *link snipped* policies have all the features that women drivers appreciate and demand including 24/7 motor claims assistance and opportunities for young women drivers to start building their own personal no claims bonuses / discounts on their first policy.

YLD is a women only car insurance company and we only offer our motor policies to the female driver. Insurance cover is quick and easy; choose for our 6 month female car insurance or our 12 month female driver motor policy.

That is becasuse statistically women have been shown to be more careful drivers. Again, it's not proof of women being inferior or superior drivers, I don't think that it's a matter of age... but still taken together, you could see the trend.

I was wondering though if you have a "woman only" company doesn't that sound smack of gender discrimination?
